Located at 6 degrees sud the equator the republic of Zanzibar consists of three islands: Latham, Pemba e Unguja, the largest, where the capital, Zanzibar taun, is situated. Only 36 kilometers of sea divide it from the african continent; dry and airy on the eastern side, it is instead humid and rich of vegetation on the western side; right here there are the spice and sugar-cane plantations. There are quiet and uncontaminated beaches where land fishermen on board of their pirogues and dao. |
